Thank you to everyone who attended this year’s Surgical Experience Fair! This year we had 3 amazing talks and our largest ever ‘Battle of the Surgical Specialties’ panel, followed by workshops and our ‘experience fair’ stalls in the afternoon.

Overview:

• Talk 1 – Ms Konstantina Karabatsou (neurosurgeon)
  • A talk on her career journey and work in neurooncology
• Talk 2 – Ms Sandhir Kandola (vascular surgeon)
  • Overview of vascular surgery, spoke about being a woman in surgery and work-life balance
• Talk 3 – Mr Mahmoud Hafez (orthopaedic surgeon)
  • Spoke about his work across both the UK and Egypt, and his work with patient-specific instruments for knee replacement

• Battle of the Surgical Specialties
  • Our panel-style debate/discussion between surgeons of different specialties on various topics, including questions from the audience
  • Specialties represented – general surgery, cardiothoracic surgery, breast surgery, ENT, neurosurgery, oral/maxillofacial surgery, paediatric surgery, ophthalmology, obstetrics/gynaecology, vascular surgery, orthopaedic surgery

• Workshops
